With more than 2000 homes and two on-site elementary schools, Mill Creek is one of the largest new communities in Chicago’s western suburbs. Mill Creek boasts two eighteen-hole golf courses, hundreds of acres of parkland and green space, almost every recreational amenity imaginable, and a “town center” with shops and services. Several weeks ago I visited Mill Creek during its annual garage sale. More than 250 sales were underway as I chatted with residents about their experiences living at Mill Creek. It was an impossibly windy, overcast morning and people were dressed and groomed for a garage sale, so most spoke off camera, but all had good things to say about living at Mill Creek.
